This happened to me once as well, and fortunately I had checked luggage. I transferred items such as perfumes, liquids, deodorants, and shampoos into my checked bag, and nothing was confiscated. However, after seeing how luggage is handled, I’ve changed my approach. Now, I typically travel with only about five days’ worth of clothing in my carry-on and purchase personal care items once I arrive at my destination. It helps me avoid the stress and inconvenience of navigating TSA restrictions. While the rules can be difficult to keep track of, I understand that they are in place for necessary reasons.

perfume- do they go by the bottle or the amount IN the bottle? I have a larger bottle that has about 1/4 left (about 1.5 oz) in it and would like to know if it would be safe to take in a checked bag?

TSA does not confiscate anything. You are given options to check it in with your airline or abandon the item.
