What helped me was learning how to set up the amortization table and be able to do that basically in my sleep. Any time a bond question comes up before even reading the full question I open excel and type out the headings for the amortization table. Then you can plug from there but yeah doing the table every time was key for me

Honestly my best advice for tackling bonds is to write out the entire amortization table each time you have a bond question! A lot of times to answer an mcq on bonds you will only have to do 1-2 years but the repetition of doing all years over and over again really helped me with understanding bonds. I could then identify the correct answer while looking at all possible answers and really understand the question. I did this same thing with leases! You got this though!! FAR is a monster and you can never truly prepare yourself for what questions you may get so even if you walk into your exam not 100% confident on bonds you should be okay! Good luck 😁

Also… leases operate the same way so if you can understand bonds you’ll crush leases. And leases for sure are gonna be on your exam.

As a cpa with 27 years experience, I’ve never had to calculate bonds on my own. There are closing statements and we record the JEs right from there. These tests are so annoying.

I had newt explain them to me in the context of a movie (it picked frozen) so I was able to remember the context that way. Once you get that the calcs become a little easier

If u get higher than a 75 u studied too much. If u feel good on the majority of topics and can logic your way through questions, one topic wont make or break the test. Good luck!!

My encouragement would be to be watch margin call the movie. It’s not exactly the same thing, but I think the lingo that they use in the movie will help you and also understanding depreciations- fully.
