@shawnthefoodsheep: A new café in Houston is blending Yemeni and Mexican flavors in a really unique way. ☕️🥐 Yemex Bakehouse & Specialty Coffee was founded by a husband-and-wife team who left careers in tech to build something more hands-on and community-driven. The space itself is beautiful, featuring neutral plaster walls, warm wood, rounded arches, and cultural touches like pottery and a traditional oud. My favorite pastry was the maple chorizo pinwheel, a buttery croissant spiral filled with smoky beef chorizo and a hint of maple for a savory-sweet bite. The labneh & za’atar croissant was tangy, creamy, and herbaceous, and the honeycomb danish had a great balance of sweet honey, creamy cheese, and nutty sesame. For drinks, the guava matcha was my favorite and had a bright fruity twist, and the salted dulce de leche latte finished with salted cold foam gave the perfect salty-sweet balance.
