Psych student here to explain that you’re actually 100% right. Our brain loves things that are familiar to us so when people say they “hate” a genre it’s because they haven’t been exposed to enough of it/different kinds of it. There’s also theories that your music taste has to do with your relationship to your maternal figure growing up but that is all bs in my opinion. The familiarity is what people like at the end of the day

I do dislike dnb idk why. I’ve tried. I just haven’t been able to vibe with it. And sometimes I’ll jokingly post on snap when a DNB song is playing at a show. But other internet, I will not go out of my way to post about it. I also used to dislike country and now I love it. I genuinely give every genre a chance. Over and over.
