@3drush0: The Cavendish Experiment was designed to measure the tiny gravitational force between objects. Henry Cavendish used a device called a torsion balance, which had two small lead balls attached to a rod suspended by a thin wire. When two large lead spheres were placed near the smaller ones, their gravitational attraction caused the rod to twist slightly. By measuring this tiny twist, Cavendish was able to calculate the strength of gravity and determine the density of the Earth.
