@connorsepilepsyjourney: Tiredness is one of Connor’s biggest seizure triggers, and lately it’s been hitting us hard. For the past 8 weeks, sleep has been a real battle. Connor still goes to bed at 7pm, just like he always has, but now the pattern is completely different. About an hour after going down, he wakes up wide awake. Not unsettled. Not half asleep. Just awake. He then struggles to get back to sleep until at least midnight — and often much later. The knock-on effect of this lack of sleep is huge. When Connor is overtired, his seizures increase, particularly his absence seizures. You can almost see the difference in him — his body is exhausted, but his brain just won’t switch off, and epilepsy takes full advantage of that. This is why sleep isn’t “just sleep” for families living with epilepsy. It’s not about routines for the sake of it — it’s about seizure control, safety, and quality of life. The video from tonight shows this perfectly. One moment he’s playing, laughing, being a normal 4-year-old… and then suddenly he’s gone into an absence seizure. These are the moments people don’t always see, and why tiredness is such a dangerous trigger for him. We’re exhausted — but more than that, we’re worried. Sleep deprivation and epilepsy are a brutal combination, and right now it feels like we’re stuck in a cycle that’s incredibly hard to break 💜 #epilepsy #epilepsyawarenes #seizures #absenceseizures
