Hiii, for starters it’s beautiful that you’ve interpreted this meaning of rosary in your/your mother in law’s life, faith is supposed to speak to us in the ways the spirit decides to speak🫶🏻 For those curious about the etymology, rosary comes from the Latin rosariu/rosarium which means “garland” or “bouquet of flowers”, symbolizes a bouquet of prayers offered to God and the word “bead” is an Old English term that originally meant “a prayer”; so yes, they are not called like that because they were made of roses, the earliest, pre-rosary prayer counting devices (3rd-4th century) used such as loose pebbles, stones, or simple knotted string!

Some nuns within the catholic curch will offer to make a rosary from your loved one’s roses at a funeral (I can’t speak for all—this was a Slavic based ceremony/cemetery/church—please don’t be mean). I have my grandfather’s from this process. This is a really beautiful thing you did

I did this 2 years ago for my mom and aunts. my mom liked it, my aunts thought they were cool. I like the way you did yours . I made the crosses myself as well a with polymer clay
