@robbiejmacneil: GRANOLA LOOKS HEALTHY… BUT MY BLOOD SUGAR SAYS OTHERWISE Granola has one of the biggest health halos in the grocery store. It sits beside yogurt, has words like natural on the package, and is usually made with oats, nuts, and honey. Because of that, most people assume it is a healthy breakfast. But when you look closer, most granolas are actually very concentrated carbs. Oats combined with honey or sugar and baked with oils become a dense source of fast digesting carbohydrates. I tested it with my CGM starting around 101 and my blood sugar climbed to 161. That is a 59 point spike from a food many people eat thinking it is a healthy option. For someone who is metabolically healthy and active, that kind of spike once in a while may not be a big deal. But if you are pre diabetic, diabetic, or trying to stabilize your blood sugar, foods like granola can make things harder to control. In that case it might be a good idea to put granola on hold or keep portions very small and pair it with protein like eggs or Greek yogurt. This is why real world testing matters. Foods that sound healthy on the label do not always behave that way in your body.
