People can assume responsibility for their lives and acknowledge/address systemic issues these aren’t mutually exclusive.

Hampus :
You should never think EVERYTHING in your life is your fault. You should draw the line and instead subscribe to the concept that your OWN responses and actions are your responsibilities, but never others. If you don't draw that line, it can spiral down to just accepting bad treatment from others, avoiding setting boundaries, taking responsible for other people's poor behaviors. Don't ever become a doormat for others to walk over and stand up for yourself and don't just soak up all the damage yourself.

You were almost correct. The thing is when it comes to the secret as I’ve watched it many times it actually talks about manifesting, but also taking action in order to achieve the desired outcome. It’s quite plainly stated in the movie if you watch it and definitely in the books it’s more so of a mindset thing which helps you to then take action. Otherwise I agree with with what you were saying.

buddhism and meditation is about realizing you are not your thoughts, but the watcher, and that the watcher is part of the universe and perfect already. I'll go with that route instead of constantly chasing some ideal

No. I can't stand it. It's impossible that EVERYTHING is my fault. What's the point of constantly blaming myself and destroying my self esteem?
Why so?

one of the first self help books I ever read was Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers. I'd say it's a lot more balanced than the two options he's talking about here

The funny part is that the right approach is combining both. The reason your life sucks is that you thought you sucked, which prevented you from doing what you needed to do to build an amazing life.

Funny, different approaches to self help because maybe men and women are different and repond to different things? lets not mock the other side because you dont understand it
