@penguinsfieldday: Najd moodboard It is known as the historic region of central Saudi Arabia, it has 3 provinces within it which are Ha’il, Qassim, and Riyadh which hosts the kingdom’s capital city Najd has been mentioned in texts and books for centuries It sits at a plateau in the middle of Arabia with it being 600–800 meters above sea level on average but it has mountains and areas that go beyond 1300-1400 meters above sea level too. Najd is known for it’s dry environment, dates, palm tree farms, seasonal greenery, historic mud houses, old writing passages, ruins, odd rock formations, pottery, battles, poetry and much more. Fun facts: - A large portion of Riyadh previously was referred to as “Al Yamamah” in pre Islamic Arabia. - Despite mostly having a desert climate Najd can get very cold in the winter with harsh bone shattering winds, low temperatures, hailstorms and rain for many months. - Diriyah, which is in Najd, was the home of the first Saudi state in 1727. #moodboard #saudiarabia #Najd #aesthetic #arab
