If doctors explained it this way, none of us would feel dismissed.

The reason I felt dismissed when my doctor suggested therapy, was because that's all I was offered. They didn't try to treat the pain or diagnose it, they only suggested therapy... I finally started getting treatment when I pushed for refferals to specialists

I just don’t understand why chronic pain isn’t taught in schools. Like I have horrific muscloskeletal neck pain caused by years of working too many hours on a laptop and if someone had just told me not to push through I might not be stuffed. It’s so horrific chronic pain and it just feels so many doctors and medics just see you as a cash cow. It’s terrible

My pain clinic offers mental health services. I declined it because I’m cheap, but I love how you explained this💕💕

technically all pain comes from the brain, the body reads censors and sends the pain signals

I feel like they want to tell me I can block out the pain. I have elevated norepinephrine yet zero meds offered to help it. It’s from chronic pain for decades and now forced taper.

Have you treatment patients with arachnoiditis? Mine is severe and that’s the only thing neurosurgeon & orthopedic docs have told me. You bring it up for more questions & immediately the subject is changed😳

Yes! my physiotherapist & I were talking about this yesterday. We've both noticed significant improvements with my pain & managing my pain now that I have a great therapist. My team are all on the same page with healing my nervous system & not just the impact of my injury

My medical provider offers a chronic pain management program that offers a team approach with physical therapy, mental health training (cbt and mindfullness focused). With coordinated care from your doctor to support the individual needs. I have found much success with this program.

I have a wonderful therapist and she's the one telling me I need to take the pain medication consistently because it will help me. I do my best not to take it because of the current environment in Healthcare that withdraws pain medications anytime they want.

You feel like you can’t talk to anyone about your mental health or they may take your medication away. It’s a constant struggle. Ugh!!!!

therapy is key to my overall treatment. it's the first thing the doctor suggested to help, yrs ago. then he prescribed meds.

Laura (Taylor’s Version) :
My doctor takes a whole body and person approach. He uses a multimodal approach and I feel so safe and heard with him. He didn’t judge me and he didn’t downplay my fears. That doctor is absolute the gold standard. Yes he does have some questions on his intake form that are highly subjective but he knows that.

I’m not convinced, I’ve been told this for my pain various times. I believe there isn’t always the correct investigation. I still had pain after various ops, and because I kept pushing and being fobbed off, one gastro did a HIDA scan that showed Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction and it matches so many symptoms I’ve had for years.

I am finding counseling very helpful and validating. I began to have an occasional stutter, hands trembling, and other symptoms. My pcp explained to me that I have never properly acknowledged my multiple conditions both from my past and currently. (I also have anxiety and depression).
