I've tried. I've really tried. my dishwasher will simply not break down food particles and I'm left cleaning my dishes when they come out of the dishwasher.

I’ve had a dishwasher for 10 years, and not once have I pre-washed a cup/plate/glass/cutlery. Some of the more heavy used items get a soak or swill, my dishwasher is 10 years old and still going strong.

I have to say the dishwasher does not get your food stuff off. I do find there is muck still on my dishes if I dont quickly rinse. I dont completely wash just rinse. I've had many a dirty dish when I open the dishwasher

I believe you… but this gives me anxiety. So the food won’t clog the filter? We just spent so much money ( to us ) on a new dishwasher and I’m so worried about clogging it up or something. I’ve been pre rising my whole life

My boyfriend damn near cleans the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and I hate it because I can never just tell by looking at the dishes if he’s ran the dishwasher or not! (yes, we have a light that will say clean, but sometimes he’ll open it to grab one thing out of there so then the light turns off).

But food residue just gets caught in the filter and smells bad! So I rinse

All I do is scrape all the food bits off. The dishwasher does the rest. Just make sure to clean the filter.

Yeah, but I live with a person that if I give them this info they’ll treat my dishwasher like there’s a garbage disposal attached. I’m just gonna let him keep on thinking they need to wash first. 🤷♀️😂

I only run dishwasher once, sometimes twice a week so I rinse... my dishwasher is also 30 years old... no filter and it's still going strong!💪

Here here! I never rinse my dishes and they come out sparkling almost every time. If something doesn’t come off, it’s usually due to improper loading.

I see you have a Frigidaire dishwasher. Is that the brand you recommend someone to buy?

The dishwashers in restaurants and bars etc are sanitizers, that's why they have dishies, but they're very specific pieces of equipment for commercial use. Your home dishwasher? Scrape off scraps and chuck it in!

I throw them in, my husband hates it but I prove him wrong every time I wash. They look perfect after they come out just scraping the dishes.

Agreed unless you have an old crappy dishwasher that your landlord refuses to replace. In that case I’m basically just using my dishwasher for the steam and heat to sanitize everything. 🙃

I tried this for about a month. I really tried. My husband gave me looks but I convinced him to try it too. The dishwasher smelled, the dishes/silverware got mold growing on them and I had to rewash a bunch of items by hand to actually get them clean. I scraped off food, it wasn’t big things left when we put them in. Oatmeal sauce (lol the liquid left in the bowl no pieces of oatmeal), chilli liquid staining the bowls, cottage cheese liquid left over in bowl and silverware grew mold in 1-3 days. We don’t run the dw more than twice a week typically as it is 2 of us. What are we supposed to do? Pre rinse anyway? Run the dishwasher for 2 hours every (or every other) day? The dishwasher is only 2 years old and we use cascade platinum pods, that I put into a dry dispenser. I also turn the sink water on hot and run it before starting the dw. I am open to suggestions!
