Vail Village sits at 8,150 ft (2,400m) and the terrain reaches 11,570 ft (3,500m). If you’re a sea-level girlie like me, you may feel it and water will be your best friend. • Leave Monday/extend your stay. Sundays on I-70 back to Denver can get busy. • Layer up (especially with wool). It was -10°C (14° F) when I was there, but that was pretty cold for Vail. • Wear sunscreen and moisturize. Higher altitude = stronger sun. • Make dinner reservations. Restaurants book up quickly. • Snowboarders: Wax your board and keep your speed.
