Perched high above the North Sea, it has been a defensive site for over 1,400 years long before the stone castle we see today was built by the Normans. In The Last Kingdom, Bebbanburg is the ancestral home of Uhtred. While the character himself is fictional, the fortress and its strategic importance are very real. This stretch of coastline was at the heart of Viking-age conflict between Anglo-Saxon kingdoms and Norse raiders. The current exhibition inside Bamburgh Castle brings the show to life with original costumes and props, including the Wessex throne connecting the story on screen with the real place that inspired it. Was there last year had a brilliant time walking around the castle got a little spooked in the castle dungeons 🤦🤣 also went to Lindisfarne which you can see from the castle amazing place to visit, can’t wait to return 😁

i wish i could get into it.. watched 2 seasons and couldn't shake the tv feel if that makes sense, loved vikings etc as it felt dark and gritty.
