I totally understand this. Im 42 now and went through this when I was 20+ here is a tip that worked for me, mid discussion ask her ”Is this how you would like your daughter to be treated?” It will give them some reality check that you are someone’s daughter.

I’m 43 and a senior director. I encourage my managers (all over 35) to mentor and prepare the younger generation to take our jobs. That should be the natural development for everyone. At the same time, I make sure the young ones understand those more senior in age have a lot to offer and teach. Respect is a two way street

Gotta find the good ones. They are out there. I’m 50 and incredibly proud of my 25 year coworker & helping her become kick ass hard worker & incredible at her job. She’s like a daughter to me & I show her kindness. Grace & understanding.

I’m 54 and LOVE my twenty year old coworkers. It’s not easy being a mentor leader but I get what you’re saying. Your generation wasn’t taught many things for the work force but it’s not your fault just be willing to learn and open and we all good!

Was there once. Learned some - not all - were direct, protective of their time, and focused on their work. What might feel blunt or distant is often just confidence and boundaries that took years. But bottom line is don’t ever vibe or tolerate negativity. Not from anyone — young or old.😎
