Boyfriend on Demand is a prime example of how a series can be simple yet brilliant. Netflix really outdid itself with the casting, but it’s Jisoo who carries the entire production on her back, truly shining in every single scene.
I loved how the story holds up a pinpoint-accurate mirror to today’s dating culture and those often awkward flirting habits we all recognize. It’s a great piece of social commentary on how we constantly chase "perfection" in the digital world, while in reality, we might be losing or missing out on the right partner because of it. It’s a vital reminder that the digital space often masks reality, and we need to know where to draw the line.
I’d especially like to highlight how Jisoo once again bravely shattered one of the "Holy Grails" of K-dramas. Just as we saw in Snowdrop, she didn't settle for the usual, reserved clichés here either: she put her all into the kiss scene. This kind of honest, passionate, and thoroughly realistic performance where even the boldest, most natural moments (yes, including the use of tongue) were included takes authenticity to a whole new level.
For regular K-drama fans, the many cameos are a real treat, and for anyone just looking for high-quality, light entertainment, it’s a must-watch!
