Use H265/AV1 if you can. Prores is fine only if you can actually support/need it. Giant file size, long upload times.

I imagine smaller file size is better to load considering 70% of viewership on YouTube is done on a phone. Different ISPs will definitely affect that 70% as well. In terms of quality, yea pro res is the choice. But because majority watch on their phones, you have a higher chance of being able to play on their phones period with a smaller, dual compressed file than a large single compressed file. So I’m imagining they say to use the h264 codec because of that.
