@nutmeg_the_sausage: Our little girl hates the car and it breaks my heart every time we have to take her somewhere😭 I feel like we’ve tried everything so far, she loves her travel seat, we’ve fed her meals in there sat in the car, I’ve tried giving her a long lasting chew for journeys but she just screams the whole time🙁 if you’ve met a dachshund you’ll know their bark goes right through you 🙃 but the worst part is knowing she’s in so much distress 🥺🥺 would love to know what has worked for you guys?🤞🏼🤎 #puppytraining #puppysoftiktok #traveltips #sausagedog #miniaturedachshundpuppy

I don’t know if it’s the same advice for dealing with separation anxiety but the advice there is to not go over their threshold and go at their pace. It could be worth speaking to your vet about situational meds to help in the short term if you have no choice but to take her in the car but a behaviourist may be a good option, we had to go down this route for other issues but it’s the best thing we’ve done, went through so many trainers without success

Millie moo is a bit like this in the car, we have a very similar car seat too and she does eventually settle. Poor little thing, they’re so dramatic 😩🙈

We had this with our dachshund (exactly as the video). We ignored this behaviour, praised quiet behaviour and took very short journeys at first, gradually increasing. She’s great now, but it took a bit of effort

Mine was like this when he was very small and then all of a sudden, he was absolutely fine! Now he goes to sleep as soon as the engine is on! Though strangely he hates when I’m reversing 😂

Luna 🥯 ADHD dog :
If she can see out the window it may help. Luna is the same. The higher car seat has helped ❤️

i feel this so much! my doxie was exactly the same, honestly the only thing that's helped is just to keep doing it. it's taken a few months but he's slowly getting better every car ride. I find it helps a lot if they've had loads of exercise before and are really tired too ❤️

Pippin mini dachs! :
With Pippin we just kept taking short rides and make them longer, now he’s absolutely quiet and loves car rides! Comfort her and treats!🩷 It will get better, may take some time but it will, it took us a week because I brought him EVERYWHERE, so we were pretty lucky😊 good luck!!! Ur not doing anything wrong!🩷
