Therapist here- I know we want to protect our kids, but it's ok to teach your kids, it's ok to cry and be sad. If they see you cry, try saying, “ Mommy is okay, I'm just feeling sad right now because I miss your sister.” then open up a convo about letting them know its ok to cry and be sad.

As a surviving sibling, it’s amazing that you’re even thinking about how this affects them now. I can promise you this will continue to come in waves as they grow up. I personally felt like I had to be brave and strong for my parents and it ended up hurting my own grief process. Thank you for thinking of them 🫶

My deepest condolences to you. I lost my husband who I was with for 20 years last September 20 25 and how you describe your kids is what I see in mine. Just keep reassuring them that mommy is sad, but she will be OK.❤️

It’s ok to grieve together. They will learn to hide those feelings from you if you don’t. When she checks on you, you can use that opportunity to ask her how she is and if she wants to talk about memories of her sister. In time that will turn into an unbreakable bond stronger than you can have even imagined.

I think it’s a beautiful thing that you and your husband have this bond with your girls. That upbringing is missing in a lot of households. The four of you will share this pain together. You will heal together and it’s OK to cry together crying his medicine for you, your husband and the girls and yes, it’s OK for them to keep asking you if you are OK and vice versa. I don’t know you I came across your page incidentally and then I learned the passing of your little angel and I have been praying for you and your family ever since.

Your cries are true testimony of the genuine raw love you have for your baby girl. it's more then ok to show that love it wouldn't be normal to not cry especially when u miss her. it's so hard to go through the pain an loss of a loved one a can't imagine the loss of a child, but your babies see you loving and missing their sister and that's OK. I hope this helps you as love is never a burden nor is the love your children have for you in caring and being concerned. big hugs
