Both the NDP and the Conservatives are forgetting how our parliament system works. MPs are allowed to cross the floor. A lot can be said about Trudeau but when he lost an MP to the conservatives he didn’t act like the conservatives and NDP and act like it’s something that doesn’t happen or shouldn’t be allowed to happen, or make public comments like its a betrayal. He wished the MP well and moved on

He should have said that he wishes her well, just like Trudeau did when his MP crossed the floor to the Cons…his response sounds desperate and undignified.

I think she really made a good choice considering what riding she is in. Smart move. I’m glad she considered her constituents.

I truly hope their Party comes back because we need their voice in Parliament. The voice before Jagmeet turned into a totally different Leader and was helping Canadians because we benefited from having them.

The irony! The hypocrisy ! I can’t anymore! It’s ok for them but not for others? The NDP is not the same party of Jack Layton!

The NDP have lost their identity, I don't know what, or who they represent anymore, I hope they do get their act together bc their voice was important, I also appreciate their confidence agreement with Trudeau that got work done, unfortunately people just want to be angry about something instead of using that energy for good, always country over party!

At one point, they were new. 50 years later, they are not “new” Democrats. Perhaps a rebranding and a restructuring would be beneficial.

The thing is, it’s very obvious that Dan is lying here if you go back, I guess to work I was at this point and look at the floor crossing of Belinda Tronic from the liberals to the conservatives. Obviously, we know the conservatives were very happy about this, but look at the NDP response and it was this is democratic. This is part of our Westminster system. This is perfectly all right to have it. In other words they were supportive of it. They weren’t critical of it this long-standing trust idea that he’s trying to put across is false. The NDP has always stood for the Democratic process in the Westminster parliamentary systems and now they’re not they’re too busy trying to dovetail into the conservative rhetoric and presentation style of PP it’s disappointing.

this move is great. she allied with the powerblock, she can keep her values and use them to make change within the Libs who have become too conserative.

I’m so proud of her. She did what her constituents wanted. My pops was an ardent supporter of the NDP. He was not happy with them in the last years of his life. He said he didn’t recognize the NDP anymore. He liked Singh but my dad was disappointed in a lot of what he did or didn’t do. The NDP of Jack Layton Tom Mulcair Ed Broadbent Alexa McDonough are gone and they won’t get back to their roots.
