@2.worlds.collide.podcast: This week on the 2 Worlds Collide Podcast, I sit down with Ashton Hurn — Leader of the South Australian Liberal Party — for a direct conversation about the future of South Australia ahead of the March 21 state election. We break down the key issues shaping the state right now — from the cost-of-living crisis and housing pressures to energy policy, government spending, and the growing disconnect many Australians feel with modern politics. We also talk about the current political climate in South Australia, the challenges facing families and businesses, and what leadership and policy direction could mean for the state moving forward. It’s an open conversation about where South Australia is heading — and what voters should be thinking about as the state heads toward the upcoming election. 🎥 Now live on YouTube & all major podcast platforms! 🧢 Support independent voices — merch + Patreon links in bio.

By end of 2026 this year SA will be just a network supplied from VIC and NSW, this is a example of no matter if you go 100% renewable, your electricity bills will be never coming down 💯

Yet the ACT with 100% renewables has some of the cheapest electricity.... Renewables are cheaper. If they built a new coal powered plant their prices would be even higher than they are now. I don't know what the issues are in SA exactly with electricity prices.... but its not due to renewables themselves

Greg :
They are not “renewable”… the infrastructure to harness energy needs to be constantly replaced at high cost and high carbon costs.

Australia’s electricity price isn’t set by the average cost of power.
In the National Electricity Market, generators bid every 5 minutes. The system takes the cheapest power first, but the most expensive generator needed to meet demand sets the price for everyone.
So if the grid is 90% wind and solar and 10% gas, and gas is the last generator needed, gas sets the price for the whole market.
That system is called marginal pricing.

South Australia's Cooper Basin holds the third largest oil deposit in the world. This oil should be refined here and all Australians should benefit from it.

the wholesale price of electricity in South Australia is almost nothing. it's free electricity thanks to renewables. the problem you have is that the electricity companies are not passing on the savings to consumers they are just keeping it all for themselves. renewables and other problem the electricity companies are

When I was living in South Australia power bill average of 1200 a quarter. Victoria about 500. NSW about 550. All this over the last 2 years. Never understood how power in SA was such a stupid price.
