@balancedmindsedu: What if inclusion wasn’t just about services…but about shared skills? American Sign Language is used by millions of Americans. Yet most students graduate school never learning even the basics. What would it look like if students learned simple ASL not because they have to —but because belonging matters? Equity isn’t a poster. It’s participation. Would you want to see ASL offered more widely in schools? 👇 #InclusiveEducation #ASLInSchools #BelongingMatters #AccessibleEducation #EducationReform
My school had asl (all but one second language class was on the computer,we weren’t required to take a second language class) but only the smart kids were able to take it bc our counselor was a real piece of work. 🥲 I’m not hearing impaired but I have time where I am unable to speak but despite putting it on my schedule every year I was in highschool and telling the counselor why I wanted it how it might help with communication with my teachers she insisted put me in drama 🙄🙄🙄. And agri because ‘I need to have a realistic plan for after school’ but it was shop and I could barely do the physical stuff for the 45 minutes I was in class.
