You can use a Brillo pad and acetone to wipe down particle board furniture that you want to repaint and it acts just like a rough sand (in my experience)🖤

No that is not wood. It is not veneer either. The entire thing is made up of a polymer composite and then painted to look like wood. This furniture was prevalent in the 60’s 70’s and 80’s. It is crap

my company uses acetone in a laboratory setting and then sells the collected acetone to cabinet shops and machining places, always wondered what they used it for!

I saw @FlipFlops & Caulk suggest trying acetone + a drill brush to remove old finish, so I had to give it a try. I’d say it worked 😳 Thanks for the idea! Has anyone else tried this method?
