PSA: look for a dental hygiene school near you!! They do professional cleanings, X-rays, dentist exams, and fluoride for FREE so students can get practice it’s all free. Don’t use this product lol.

I reccomend removing your permanent retainer, it ends up harboring more plaque and bacteria from my experience resulting in more cleanings

As a hygienist…yes we do want you to remove plaque at home. I don’t want you removing calculus as home..this cleaning instrument will mess up your teeth. And a cleaning X-rays and exam in my office as a new patient is 250

So do you have a higher speed polisher to use after to get the grooves out of the teeth those scalers leave ? Those grooves make it so your teeth will collect more and you will constantly be doing this. Just something to think about .

Plaque buildup can be removed with brushing and flossing. If you do that everyday, it won’t harden into Calculus/tartar buildup (like you are showing). As a hygienist i would not recommend doing this! Even on the lightest setting, it can damage enamel or root surfaces, incorrect angulation can cause damage, it can push bacteria further into the gums & you don’t have suction so it’s just moving bacteria around your mouth. And many other reasons. Just brush and floss daily and go to a dentist and you won’t need this!

using that is dangerous for the nerves of the teeth. the instruments we use for routine cleanings spray water to keep the tip cool. as a hygienist, please don’t use those!
