Autumn Athena :
My high neuroticism is from Complex PTSD & I wish with all my heart I could turn it around but it’s much easier said than done.

This is slightly inaccurate, it’s not exactly the ability to feel negative emotions, it’s more the predisposition towards negative interpretation of events which then causes significant negative emotion.

my method for combating this, and I'm not saying it's for everyone, was to simply let my life fall apart. so much of the "bad" things I was afraid of letting happen turned out to be made up in my head. and all of the people, places and things that didn't come with me to the other side, I knew weren't meant for me.

As someone with high neuroticism, probably from trauma, she is not wrong. It takes daily effort to keep my nervous system out of that fight or flight mindset. But when I do the work, life is so much easier

Not trying to advocate for neuroticism, but what happens when you’re always right. Like you will call out what’s going to happen and then it does?

Idk but my high neuroticism took me out from situations where I was not respected, belittled or takes advantage of. So yeah! It’s never a problem in relationships where I feel safe

This makes me so sad, I do think I’m less neurotic than I use to be at least and hope anyone struggling figures out how to shift it for themselves
