@jackie.horse.sanc: While doing a supply drop of OTC meds for an elderly woman in WNC, we saw this horse and decided to ask the owner if we could help. Fortunately, they said yes and surrendered him to our care. They told us his name is Buck, and he is over 30 years old. We had to walk Buck down a road washed out by hurricane Helene to get him to our trailer... Since he is obviously lame, we took care to keep him on the softest ground we could find as we coaxed him down with the promise of sanctuary. He was so grateful to have hay waiting in the trailer. Our vet and farrier met us at the farm to treat Buck and make sure that he has all of the care he needs. He may not have a whole lifetime ahead of him, but he deserves to know comfort in his remaining years. Buck will have a full belly, a warm blanket and unlimited love with us. Honestly I am shocked that he survived through the hurricane, but he is clearly a strong horse who wants to live. We are happy that the stars aligned for him to come here, and allow us to care for him now. Welcome to Red Feather, Buck. You are loved. If you'd like to contribute toward his long-term care costs, we would be so grateful. 🤍
