Guys, she’s knows it’s subflooring, she doesn’t think the subfloor plywood is gorgeous. She is saying why do people just keep adding layer upon layer of flooring instead of removing what’s underneath.

They do that because depending on the age of the home, the linoleum may have asbestos in it. And often times it’s safer to just cover it up. Also, that looks like mold underneath that linoleum, but I hope not.

Not sure how old your home is, but with older homes, the linoleum contains Abestos in it so it’s easier to cover it up then to remove it.

My kitchen has 2 linoleum rugs and wood on top of that so it’s an inch higher than my dining room and living room. It’s lovely. 🤔

That’s likely a sub floor. Even in old homes people didn’t have hardwoods in the kitchen. Tile or linoleum.
