This is 100% somthing with the starter either wiring is attached wrong or it’s not getting the correct voltage, please make this high up in the comments so he’s sees that and dosent keep replacing pointless Parts

Make sure your flywheel teeth mesh correctly to the starter teeth. I had the wrong size starter gear for my tdi ford ranger and it was making the same noise.

I had this happen to my sr20 also the starter needs to be rebuilt it’s spinning but the appendix is not pushing out hard enough to engage

Dude literally had the transmission off, you could have found some bolts to bolt the starter in and then visually see what the starter is doing when attempting to start.
