It’s such an unfortunate cycle. Parents (some) send in their sick children as they can’t afford to stay off work. And then the staff get ill too.

Nearly all of us have to be severely ill for this to happen btw, nurseries do not close for no reason and the likelihood of not being able to get last minute agencies isn’t that high. It has to be bad to get to that point

our old nursery would open if low staff but would only accept the first children with ratio. so stressful to get there and be told you're 2 mins late to be accepted.

this happened once at my sons old nursery they did however allow the children that parents had paid for go in funded children didnt go in

They might of not been capable for that day based of ratios because you have to have so many people in the building to be able to stay open I think x ❤️

I once worked in a very small nursery with only 5 staff. we had to close once after lunch because we only had 2 staff due to sickness and couldn't get agency to cover so had no choice to shut early

Don’t send ill children to nursery and staff will get ill less. It’s a vicious cycle thru nursery and school. Sure kids can go downhill suddenly but the amount of children sent in after calpol or telling staff they were sick in night is ridiculous
