in old french "today" used to be "hui" (so really similar to "hoy") but with time the words " au jour de..." ("at the day of...") got added to it so it gradually became "aujourd'hui". There's also the french expression "au jour d'aujourd'hui", which means "at this time"/"to this day" which literally translates to "at the day of the day of today" lol

In Georgian we say otkhmotsdaati (ოთხმოცდაათი) which is 4×20+10. Frankly almost every number is like that, 70 is samotsdaati - 3×20+10, etc.

"astăzi" nu e chiar cea mai clară, corectă formă pentru că e un cuvânt format prin compunere din "astă+zi", doar că accentul nu mai e pe "i", ci pe prima vocală "a". deci fata le încurcă un pic, dar de fun așa merge.. 😉
