@thevetnursecollective: You wouldn’t tell a mechanic they should work for free just because they love cars, so why do we expect vet nurses to? Veterinary nurses study for years to qualify. We learn anatomy, pharmacology, anaesthesia, radiography, laboratory diagnostics, patient care, emergency medicine… the list goes on. We monitor anaesthetics. We place catheters. We run bloods. We hospitalise critical patients. We comfort owners on their worst days. We advocate for animals that can’t speak. And somehow, the expectation still exists that we should accept low pay, unpaid overtime, and emotional exhaustion… Because we “love animals”. Passion shouldn’t be used as permission to undervalue skilled professionals. Vet nurses deserve respect & proper pay.
