Soooo true. Many parents need to learn that being intrusive isn’t a “close family”, kids giving into every demand isn’t a “good family”, and silence over accountability isn’t a “functional family.” To me, family esp parent and child relationships are 100% down to what people do for one another voluntarily through love, not pressured obligation.

I agree! I don’t want anything from my children when they grow up. They don’t need to take care of me or pay my bills. I’m entitled to NOTHING. I’d love for them to visit me often and let me be a part of their adult lives 🥺 but it’ll be a privilege not a right
