@in.good.hands.collective: “But they love to see what’s going on!” *cue the cringe* “They’re so much better at standing than sitting” *cue the cringe* “Look how strong their legs are” *cue the cringe* “They love jumping on my lap!” *cue the cringe* I know none of you owe me any favors but if y’all would stop standing your babies up before they can crawl, you’d make my job a lot easier and I’d be so grateful 🙏🏼 To be clear: you’re not causing your baby imminent harm but standing your baby too early sets up road blocks you just don’t need in your life (or theirs) #babydevelopment #babystanding #therapytips #redflag
I can’t even open this app without being told I’m a POS mom every damn day. I’m so over it

My son always wanted to stand at that age. He had severe reflux and always wanted to be upright. He sat at 6 months and crawled also. He’s almost 5, no hip issues and very athletic for all the parents who are freaking out right now.

if you occasionally stand your baby on your thighs and he pushes down, that’s completely normal. You’re not harming his development. The issue would be long periods in things like:
• jumpers
• exersaucers
• standing seats

You should address this in a nicer tone, so judgemental rather than educating. Were all learning here be kind

As someone with scoliosis, I surely don't want my little struggling with posture. This is why I do my best to learn from pediatric OT's online because I can't always afford a check up. So far, little one is about to crawl anyday now! We are practicing with sitting. He's doing good

My baby wanted and enjoyed standing. We went with his cues. He also enjoyed learning to sit and crawl. He crawls amazingly, now 8 months enjoys both standing and crawling. I don’t think mother’s should take this as blanket advice or scare them if their baby likes standing. Ours liked it and is a strong crawler, sitter, explorer

How do you help counteract a baby that just wants to be in that standing position? I was aware of this developmental flag, and so we’ve been really trying to teach sitting, but it’s so hard because he just wants to be in that extended standing position instead.

My daughter did this, she skipped crawling, she walked early. No hip issues and is now a teenager and a multi sport athlete. All kids are different and it all works out in the grand scheme without shaming or worrying parents.

My baby loved to stand when he was 2+ months but still sat up and crawled by 7 months 😅 now at 8 months trying to walk

Both my two younger babies(both girls) stood very young. But they also learned how to sit, crawl, cruise and walk all by 9.5 months. Yes, I enabled them to stand. But I also encouraged them to do all the other things too.

So my son (he’s now 2.5 years old) never crawled. He loved to sit and would roll around but never crawled. He started pulling himself up around 10 months and was walking by 12 months. He can crawl now and is ahead of all his milestones! Very coordinated little guy, and I was always worried something was wrong because he never crawled 😅
