The mole does not react with panic or defensiveness. He sees the fox’s life is in danger and calmly says that if the fox stays in the snare he will die and begins freeing him. The fox’s initial hostility is natural, but the mole responds with compassion and awareness. That exchange shows a deeper truth. We cannot control others’ reactions, but we can choose how we respond. Sometimes compassion pierces fear. Sometimes calm speaks louder than hostility. In that choice lies a kind of freedom most of us overlook until we reflect on our lives. #compassion #response #calm
