I have the most friendly happy go lucky golden retriever and I never have and never will just let her meet random dogs. She doesn’t need more friends or the interaction lol would she do anything? No. But how do I know their dog won’t!

Not just dogs meeting dogs but also dogs meeting people. We have a dog who is very protective and doesn’t always like other people, so if we move out of the way, it’s because we DON’T want him to “meet” you. I have learned to not always assume all dogs can be pet too

We have two pitbulls. Well….one pitbull and one pitbull/something that resembles a velociraptor. So no, we do not allow greetings 😅. Not because they’re mean or aggressive, but because people get scared of them! (And also because the 100lb pitbull is scared of tiny dogs so he runs away).

No exactly!! I have a corgi and everyone thinks that it’s ok to just come up and pet my dog or that they need to meet their dog. It drives me crazy!!

Absolutely not lol I don’t let my dog greet other dogs, period. When we go to parks and on walks we keep a distance. That’s just common courtesy. Friendly or not.

i have a very friendly golden who would love to meet everyone. i only allow him to say hi if someone asks. i never assume another dog or person would be comfortable with him walking up to them.

I know my dogs limits and when he is over stimulated. I will NEVER put him in a situation to “test the unknown”. Not crazy, good owner
