I prefer Artemisia Gentileschi’s version. It’s so visceral. Caravaggio makes it feel like he is imploring you to feel bad for Holofernes and Judith is at fault for wanting to protect her people and her land.

Even though I am a fan of Caravaggio, I prefer Artemisia Gentileschi’s version. It is more violent, makes you feel the anger, the horror, the disgust and Even the desperation.
