Deffo find a new dentist! I was having blood taken on Tuesday in london, still haven't changed my government ID, but on my requisition form it has my chosen name. So I give my legal name for the paper work and dont even talk about my preferred name. When I was called up, they used my chosen name, and it shocked me! Ok, I know it’s not easy but… correct them. Many of us are still learning. I’ve learnt so much from you. In a kind, gentle way that inspires me to try harder to be welcoming. I made a mistake last week and I was corrected and I was so thankful for that, but I absolutely felt terrible for making the mistake. They said they were not upset and I hope that’s true.

Having a last name that I have to correct 50% of the time, speaking up is automatic to me. You are your own best advocate, correct them and take back your power. Be polite but be firm. “My name is Jaye, thanks.”

It’s sad, a legal name change takes upwards of 6 months, when it comes to any healthcare things for my son he’s always dead named because his healthcard is his legal name - it’s very frustrating

One of the things that has helped my daughter in her transition is I did a ton of the name change stuff for her. And I called ahead or spoke with places like the dentist so she didn’t have to deal with it. (She’s 21). Being dead named makes her really upset. Maybe there’s someone (a parent?) who could do this for you? Not because you can’t but just to be kind ♥️the other day mail came for her in her deadname. (Junk mail). I immediately sharpied it out.
