I also look forward to a post racial world, however , it is very disingenuous to equate how black ppl engage with race and how yt ppl do . We weaponize race for defense reasons, so long as there is an ideology out there, called yt supremacy , which targets my blackness, I have no choice but to respond to it accordingly, for it poses an existential threat, this has been predominantly how politically active black peoples use race or engage with it , blackness is a shield, not a sword , same can’t be said of whiteness . It isn’t in our interest to drop the shield while the enemy still holds the sword, it would be stupid . Is not on us with the shield to start fixing shih they started , is not the rational option at all, is not on us to be " the bigger person ", in a minute, a lunatic supremacist in the west could rise to power, and push settler colonial agenda for Africa , for example, what then ? Are we supposed to just dance Kumbaya and celebrate our extinction . So, yeah,not all of us who are racially conscious, want this mess to be eternal, racism is dumb, is stupid, but it causes a lot of real suffering, and has cost the blood of enough people, for us, the main recipients of its aggression, to be the ones pushing a conciliatory agenda . That’s not on us to do , our part is to build strength , and be ready to hurt white supremacy whenever it shows it’s ugly head like in Iran, Palestine, Sudan, Congo ... we have the right to defend ourselves .
