@upspiral.life: If your partner is going through perimenopause and suddenly seems more emotional, forgetful, direct, or less tolerant of things she used to quietly handle… it may not be a relationship problem. It may be biology. During perimenopause, estrogen and progesterone fluctuate in ways that affect the brain, nervous system, sleep, mood, memory, and stress response. That means brain fog, hot flashes, emotional intensity, and low tolerance for nonsense can show up at the same time. But there’s another side to this transition that most people never hear about. Many women begin to experience a huge shift in clarity during this phase of life. They start asking deeper questions. What do I actually want? What am I done tolerating? What kind of life do I want next? From the outside it can look like instability. But from the inside it can feel like waking up. For partners, the instinct is often to fix the emotions. But nervous systems regulate through safety and presence, not logic. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can offer is steadiness. Listen. Stay calm. Don’t take every emotional wave personally. Because when couples understand what’s happening biologically, this phase doesn’t have to push people apart. It can actually bring them closer. Write exquisite in the comments to remember that the woman you’re with is extraordinary. This is the first time someone has framed this as something that wasn’t negative and awful. Thank you

So my husband passed away right when I started perimenopause. People thought I wasn’t grateful for certain things when I just felt they were hiding or misleading. Turned out I was right. Still have not remarried or dated anyone. Loving myself and children are at the top of my list. I don’t have to perform anymore. Thank you for saying this.
