@winbjorkphoto: To survive the harsh winter cold and the tough Arctic climate, reindeer have incredibly effective insulation. During snowfall, snow can remain on their fur for hours without melting, meaning they release very little heat through their coat. Despite this, a reindeer can still be clearly spotted from a long distance with a thermal device. It’s a fantastic tool that allows me to locate reindeer from a safe distance for photographing them, minimizing the risk of disturbing or scaring them. A thermal viewer is also extremely useful in weather like this, whiteout conditions, where it becomes very difficult and exhausting for the eye to spot animals far out on the mountain. .
