The steams not going to the cooling tower. The steams going to a condenser and the cooling tower is pumping water to the condenser and back. It’s a giant heat exchanger. The steam side is its own loop cooling water is another loop.

Steam does NOT go to the cooling tower!! There’s a condenser after the turbine that uses cooling water to cool the steam into water INSIDE the condenser

why cool the water? its already mostly heated to temp after leaving the turbine. why start over? seems like a waste of energy.

What’s the difference between steam entering and leaving the turbine? Why not use the steam again? Is it too cold? Too unpressurized? Why didn’t it turn back to water then after passing the turbine?
