He is married to a U.S. citizen, and they have everything filed for their marriage. They have been working through the immigration process and doing everything “the right way.” Yet he was still taken and placed in ICE detention, separated from the woman he loves and the life they are building together. For weeks and months, families like theirs are left living with fear, uncertainty, and heartbreak even when they are following the legal process exactly as they are told to. This is something many people do not realize: being married to a U.S. citizen does not automatically protect someone from being detained. But today, after everything they endured, they were finally reunited. A wife able to hold her husband again. A family able to breathe again. Let this be a reminder: this can happen to anyone. Our neighbors, our friends, our coworkers, people who are doing everything they can to build a life here the right way. I remember going through this with my husband being 6 months postpartum and it was one of the most difficult things ever and no one knows what we go through emotionally and financially in those moments. Praying for all the immigrants out there and the immigration attorneys because they are fighting so families wont be separated.
