Sometimes men who grow up without fathers create an idealised version of the father they never had as a way to cope with that absence. Even if they claim they hate him, there can still be a deep wish that he had been present and loving. When those feelings of abandonment aren’t processed, the resentment has to go somewhere, and because their mother was often the only parent there, she becomes the easiest person to blame. That unresolved pain can eventually turn into resentment toward women in general, even though the root of it is really unhealed hurt and the absence of a father.
