@drewwdaniels: How Avoidant Partners Self Sabotage. Often they feel their mistakes are “permanent”. A feeling that they can never recover your trust again. In their world they *only* lose trust in important things- and rarely have success in gaining it back. The truth is that this is not about whether this is “the truth.” It’s the truth of how they feel. And it comes from a very hurt part that desires connection. #avoidantattachment #attachmentstyles #relationshipproblems #relationshipadvice
“Please do not contact me. I do not want contact at all anymore in any capacity. I know I had confused this before, and have expressed wanting to repair. I will not now. I am moving on with my life. I wish you well and happiness. Take care.” Discarded six weeks ago with that. Pure dismissiveness, disguised as a polite and warm goodbye. One-sided cut off. Horrible.

It also requires the avoidant to be semi in touch with themselves

as someone 6 weeks into deep healing journey and 3 days into recognizing I'm a DA. I feel seen here... horrified still... I hate the pain I've given and felt with these behaviors...

nope. no thanks. no way. never going to happen. I wouldn't waste another moment and neither should anyone else. it's not my responsibility to work on myself and then them too. once you've learned the hard lesson, walk straight out the door.

See mine is confident that he can grow and do better which is why it’s hard to leave. But I don’t think he realizes what “changing” will require. It’s interesting because everything about fearful avoidant matches my partner except for the fact that he would rather stay and try to work this out even if he doesn’t know what to do to get better. He’s actively trying honestly and he can articulate how he knows he’s messing up and why it’s happening and even agreed to do therapy but I’m still unsure if we’ll be able to work. It’s hard to be hopefully but I’m trying

One of the greatest examples on tv history of this is an ep of “The Bear” when Carmy is in the walk-in freezer. 🥲
