@simplegoodrecipes: My weight loss journey began four years ago when I underwent gastric sleeve surgery at my heaviest weight of 254 pounds. Following the initial consultation and commitment to surgery, I completed all required steps over the six-month period, including a visit to a dietitian. Here is my story from then to now. Two days after surgery, I experienced a devastating loss with the passing of my stepfather, who was an extraordinary father and grandfather to my children. Overwhelmed with grief, I struggled with depression and lost my appetite, surviving on sips of clear protein for weeks without consuming solid food. In August, I faced another heartbreaking loss with the passing of my beloved sister, which further exacerbated my depression and inability to cope. From September to October, I continued to struggle with minimal food intake, frequently in and out of the hospital, and barely clinging to life. November brought another significant loss with the passing of my grandmother, who had taught me invaluable life lessons, except for how to live without her. However, with the arrival of December, my mother's unwavering support and care helped me regain my footing.
