@pulse.of.medics: There are four common types of scars depending on how the body heals. 1. Normotrophic Scar (Normal Scar) This is the most common and normal type of scar. Characteristics: • Flat and thin • Same level as the surrounding skin • Light in color • Usually fades over time This means the wound healed normally. 2. Atrophic Scar (Sunken Scar) This scar looks slightly depressed or sunken. Characteristics: • Skin dips inward • Caused by loss of tissue or collagen • Less common in surgical wounds 3. Hypertrophic Scar (Raised Scar) This scar becomes thick and raised but stays within the wound area. Characteristics: • Red or pink • Raised above the skin • May improve slowly with time ⚠️ Caused by excess collagen during healing. 4. Keloid Scar This is an abnormal scar that grows beyond the wound area. Characteristics: • Thick, hard, and raised • Can keep growing after the wound heals • Sometimes itchy or painful • More common in people with darker skin
