I‘m christian and I feel nothing too while praying, like he‘s never even been there, but just the thought of having someone up there looking down on me comforts me so much, and maybe I will never feel him close to me, but I can’t bring myself to actually believe he isnt out there somewhere. I don’t like admitting that I doubt my own faith. And for all of you saying it’s a coping mechanism, maybe it is, but it still helps me, and I truly believe he‘s up there waiting for me

This is how I think about god, sure he could have made himself more obvious, he could have made a sign in the sky saying “Jesus is god, follow Jesus.” But what good would that actually do? Probably not Much. So instead god has given us evidence of his existence through the Bible. But the Bible doesn’t answer our doubts and questions. Divine hiddenness? The problem of evil? They are all unanswered. They aren’t unmentioned, they are mentioned all through the Bible, especially the Old Testament. Like in job, the problem of evil is that explored, but not answered, and if god wanted to answer it, it would have been here. So maybe, this is because our minds can’t possibly perceive these things. They are ultimately mysteries, that none of us are capable of answering. Because god, for whatever reason it may be has chosen to leave them unanswered. I hope this helps you, or anyone reading a little bit. Amen 🙏
