I posted this because the world loves to minimize what a C-section mother goes through. We hear the phrase “the easy way out ” tossed around so casually, as if laying on a cold operating table, swimming in anxiety and uncertainty, is a luxury. There is nothing easy about becoming a mother on an operating table , nothing easy about the size of that epidural needle piercing through your spinal cord to completely numb you . Nothing easy about being unable to feel your legs Nothing easy about your body being opened while your heart is praying that your baby arrives safely absolutely nothing easy about trying to stand up hours later learning to walk again Still in pain , still healing from major surgery while feeding, caring and comforting your newborn. The pain of trying to take those first few steps after your abdomen has been cut open , The spinal headache thst comes after is a pain I wouldn’t wish on anyone. It feels impossible. But as a Mother, you don’t have the luxury of giving up. Your newborn is crying, your milk is coming in, and your heart is forcing your broken body to move forward. Motherhood has no shortcuts. If you are doing the work yourself, you will go through the fire there is no easy way out at all . To become a mother requires your blood, your sweat, and your sacrifice. Whether it’s a natural delivery or a major surgical birth, the toll is paid in full by the mother. This is what love looks like in its rawest, most sacrificial form. To every C-section warrior who has had to dig deeper than they ever thought possible just to stand up I see you. You are not a cheat code , you did not take the easy way out , if anything you actually took the hardest route .
