Why is no one talking about this…? #WhoShouldPayPartner Ever notice how the world only focuses on home prices and interest rates, but almost nobody talks about the line item that can break the deal? Home insurance is quietly turning into a national cost-of-living crisis. Across the U.S., insurers are hiking premiums, tightening coverage, and pulling back from the riskiest areas as disasters get more frequent and more expensive. From 2018–2022, average homeowners insurance premiums rose faster than inflation, and households in the highest climate‑risk ZIP codes paid 82% more on average than those in the lowest-risk ZIP codes. Zoom out, and it gets worse: from 2020 to 2024, home insurance premiums rose ~41% nationwide. So when someone says, “My house is on fire… and that’s not even the worst part,” it’s not a joke. The worst part is realizing your biggest asset might be underinsured, unaffordable to protect, or impossible to insure. And here’s the kicker: even if you live nowhere near a wildfire zone or floodplain, you can still feel it through higher premiums and shaky markets. So the question is: who pays when climate risk gets repriced into the entire housing market? Homeowners, taxpayers, banks, insurers? Check out @Who Should Pay? to learn more. #finance #realestate #ClimateInsuranceCollapse #InsuranceCrisis
