My first language is Portuguese because I'm Brazilian, and I love the fact that I can speak English correctly and sound like a Brazilian because my accent carries my culture, my identity, who I am. So I don't need to seem like someone I'm not. That's my point of view, to speak with an accent can be beautiful. I wanna speak correctly without being misunderstood. That's just my point of view.🥰

every time I watch a new show or a movie , in whatever accent they have , I go by that accent for a while 😂 it just shifts on it's own and I don't know why !! but maybe because I alsontry to sound as natural as possible keeping my actual accent hidden , but sometimes it slips too , honestly thought I was alone in this , apparently there is a lot like me 😂 (ps: you sound American , like native tbh!)

I totally agree!!!! I didn’t really learn English from grammar or vocab, I just picked it up from listening I usually speak American English, but after spending 2 weeks in Australia, people said I sounded Australian when I got back to Japan. Then I went to the US for 2 weeks right after, and I switched back to American English lol I guess it’s a good thing that I’m good at picking up sounds, but sometimes I rely on it a little too much 😭

YESS it changes as im influenced by smth. Like I’d usually speak in an American or Southeast Asia accent then the word “factor” comes and Im British 🇬🇧

Giiiiirrrl, the same happened to me while watching Bridgeton… English is my third language, every time I watch American/British films my accent always changes. The problem is even if I use American accent I use British words… And I do it really unconsciously too…
